Ixodes Outreach Project Active Tick Collection Week 1

Greetings all!

This Saturday a member of our team caught two Ixodes scapularis ticks on our active collection transect in Carlton Co, MN; one was an adult female and the other was an adult male.

Ixodes scapularis is also known as the deer tick, or black legged tick and in Minnesota it is the species primarily responsible for the transmission of the bacteria that causes Lyme disease.
